High-end dishwashers sit squarely between affordable models from mainstream brands and the best luxury dishwashers on the market that are often special order and priced far higher than average.

While high-end dishwashers cost more than the average dishwasher, they’re not out of reach for the average homeowner with a few budget adjustments and priority checks. They’re also incredible investments, offering extended lifespans sometimes up to 20 years, premium features, smart capabilities, and advanced wash systems.

To help you find the right high-end dishwasher, we tested many models in our laboratory and researched thousands of reviews for others to narrow down a list of the best high-end dishwashers you can get online right now.

The Bosch SGX78B55UC features Bosch’s legendary heating and drying power. It’s fast, powerful enough to scrub out stains, and has Bosch’s CrystalDry tech that gets each dish perfectly dry on every cycle.

The SGX78B55UC/13 also boasts smart features, a third rack, an adjustable top rack, and foldable tines in its bottom rack. It’s also ADA-compliant. That means it’s physically smaller, can be accessed from the front, and features controls that can be operated with one hand and minimal force.

This is an excellent dishwasher overall, with some great accessibility considerations, Bosch’s strong performance and smart features, and more. We ran into some issues with spinach redeposit, but that was our only complaint.

Cons

  • Minor issues with redeposit

It’s thoughtfully designed, as well. The pocket handle is sleek, and the adjustable upper and third racks can help ensure there’s room for everything you need washed.

We do wish that for this price, the warranty lasted longer than the two years Miele offers, especially since this dishwasher could last up to 20 years.

  • Third rack and adjustable upper rack

Cons

  • Nothing significant that we could find

Product image of Bosch SHPM88Z75N
Bosch SHPM88Z75N

The Bosch SHPM88Z75N tops our Best Dishwashers list, which includes all styles of mainstream appliances, from Whirlpool up to Miele.

It cleans dishes better than most, and was nearly perfect during its heavy duty cycle. Plus, with a sound rating of 40 dBA, this Bosch is also one of the quietest dishwashers we tested.

While the SHPM88Z75N does an amazing job removing some of our more difficult stains, we did find occasional redeposit on dishes. Also, the controls didn’t always respond at the first touch during testing.

Pros

  • Dries plastics

  • Stellar stain removal

  • Quiet operation

Cons

  • Nothing significant that we could find

Product image of KitchenAid KDPM804KBS
KitchenAid KDPM804KBS

We love its high-end feel, but not slower than normal cycle times.

Pros

  • Third rack

  • Adjustable tines

  • Lots of features

Cons

  • Cleaning power was low for its price

Product image of Thermador Emerald DWHD650WFP
Thermador Emerald DWHD650WFP

The Thermador Emerald is a great addition to any smart home and works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and SmartThings. Energy Star qualified, this dishwasher features three-stage advanced filtration to recirculate water for sparkling results in any of the six cycles. It also cleans up to 15 place settings with ease.

While this dishwasher comes with three racks, it doesn’t have a food disposal, and the drying power’s said to be lacking, which could get frustrating when you’re looking for a dishwasher that does it all. The Thermador Emerald comes with a two-year manufacturer's warranty for additional peace of mind.

Pros

  • Quiet

  • Cleans well

Cons

  • Dry cycle isn’t great

  • No food disposal

Product image of Viking VDWU324SS Top Control Built-In Dishwasher
Viking VDWU324SS Top Control Built-In Dishwasher

Touchpad controls and an LCD display allow ease of use with this sleek Viking dishwasher. While this dishwasher only has two racks, it also includes adjustable stemware shelves, making it easy to create more space for cups and utensils.

Quiet—but not the quietest—at 45 dBA, this dishwasher has condenser drying, so while it won’t completely dry your dishes, it’s said to produce very clean ones. A 24-hour delayed start lets you set the dishwasher to start running at any time.

Pros

  • Quiet yet powerful cleaning

  • Touchscreen display

Cons

  • Won’t dry dishes completely

Product image of Jenn-Air Rise JDPSS246LL
Jenn-Air Rise JDPSS246LL

At 38 dBA, the JennAir Rise is among the quietest available on the market—near silent.

Three racks accommodate 15 place settings for easy, everyday use, as well as special occasions. The TriFecta Wash System cleans dishes in about an hour.

Adjustable tines in the middle and lower racks let you reconfigure the space for unwieldy cookware, making it easy to cook new recipes without worrying about cleaning up after.

Heated drying and leak detection are the stars of the show for the JennAir Rise, and the delayed start can schedule your wash cycle in hourly increments up to 24 hours.

Pros

  • Great build quality

  • Quick wash

Cons

  • Expensive

What You Should Know Before Buying a High-End Dishwasher

What’s The Difference Between High-end Dishwashers and Luxury Dishwashers?

A good indication of whether you’re dealing with a high-end or a luxury dishwasher is to look at the brand name. Bosch and Miele are two of the biggest high-end dishwasher brands, but Samsung, Electrolux, KitchenAid, Café, and Thermador are also included. Stepping up to premium appliances, luxury dishwasher brands include Cove, Viking, JennAir, Gaggenau, Thermador Sapphire, Monogram, and Fisher & Paykel.

When it comes to operation, cleaning performance, and special features, you get what you pay for—to a point. These machines are built to deliver top performance. You’re paying for near-silent operation, higher-quality parts like stainless steel tubs over plastic, special soil sensors, height-adjustable racks, efficient drying technologies, and superior craftsmanship with design.

Across the board, manufacturers spend more time developing, testing, and creating high-end and luxury dishwashers, and that time translates into higher prices. However, at a certain point technology and features stop justifying a higher price tag.

Dave Ellerby, Reviewed’s chief scientist, says, “In theory, you could up the performance of your dishwasher by using more powerful pumps to blast your dishes with hotter water and drying them with energy-hungry heaters and fans. But there's a limit to how far you can carry this process, and high-end dishwashers are probably close to that limit.

Energy Star efficiency calculations are based on water and electricity use, so a supercharged dishwasher wouldn't get an Energy Star rating. It would also be noisy, and eventually, you'd hit temperatures and pressures where you'd damage your dishes, especially plasticware.”

While high-end appliances deliver strong performance, luxury dishwashers reach a place where you’re just paying more for the clout of owning one.

Do High End Dishwashers Last Longer?

According to the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors, the average dishwasher lasts about nine years.

Appliances don’t last as long these days for a few reasons: economic factors that affect all durable goods, production of parts frequently getting outsourced to lowest-bidding third-party manufacturers, and increasing usage of plastic instead of metal.

However, many high-end dishwashers will keep running for longer than average, sometimes twice as long, especially if you maintain them. Bosch typically sticks it out for about 12 years, while Miele says its dishwashers last for an astounding 20 years.

Where Can You Buy A High-end Dishwasher or Luxury Appliance?

Don’t expect to shop these elite kitchen appliances at big box stores like The Home Depot or Lowe’s. Instead, you’ll typically have to look at specialty retailers or smaller showrooms.

You can find Electrolux, Samsung, and Bosch dishwashers at AJ Madison, and all the major players at Appliances Connection and Abt. You can also buy directly from the brand itself.

In November 2022, German premium appliance manufacturer Miele announced an exclusive retail partnership with Lowe’s, where it will be selling a few select dishwasher and front-loading washing machine models.
