Pros

  • Cleans well

  • Adjustable upper rack with stemware holders

Cons

  • Has minor issues with redeposit

While it’s not the best dishwasher we’ve tested, it offers a lot of value for the money. For other affordable dishwasher options, check out the LG LDF5545ST, which has excellent cleaning and features for a bit more money.

The Samsung DW80R2031US has a very sleek, modern design for an affordable dishwasher. It has a bold handle and an otherwise clean facade, opting to keep its digital touch controls hidden on the top of the stainless steel door.

Inside is a standard two-rack layout. The upper rack does have two extras, however: Its height can be adjusted to accommodate different dishware shapes and sizes, and it's outfitted with stemware holders.

What we like

It effectively scrubs out difficult stains

The Samsung DW80R2031US can hold up to 14 place settings.

On just about all of our test stains, this Samsung dishwasher did an excellent job. Almost across the board, stains were either 100% removed or had less than 2% of the stain remaining. On particularly difficult stains, it still cleaned off about 94%, whereas other inexpensive options might only clear away 11%–30%.

Typically when you’re looking for a good value, you have to compromise a bit on cleaning power. Fortunately, that’s really not the case with the DW80R2031US.

What we don’t like

There are minor issues with redeposit

There’s not a lot to dislike about the Samsung DW80R2031US. On most tests, it was either dead average or slightly ahead of the curve. One of the few areas where it did lag behind—very slightly—was with redeposit. Redeposit is when food gets washed off one dish, isn’t filtered out of the water, and wind up getting washed onto another dish.

We saw more redeposit than average with the DW80R2031US. While it wasn’t much worse than average, specks of food on dishes tend to be really eye-catching and obvious. There’s a very thin line between, “It’s just a stray speck” and “this dish just finished a wash cycle and still looks dirty.” Also, if your dishwasher is consistently delivering speckled dishes after a wash, it can get grating over time.

While the Samsung DW80R2031US’s issues with redeposit aren’t too bad (and are somewhat tempered by its low price point), it will likely be a consistent frustration, albeit a minor one. We saw roughly the same levels of redeposit regardless of what cycle we chose.

What owners are saying

The upper rack has an adjustable height and features stemware holsters along the left-hand side.

Owners seem to like their Samsung DW80R2031US overall, awarding it an average of 4.6 out of 5 stars across major retailers. Positive reviews cite its effective cleaning, quiet operation, aesthetics, and stemware holders.

Most negative reviews seem to have received lemons, with several claiming the unit was leaky. The only other common complaint is that its components feel flimsy. While we agree the internal components aren't particularly robust, we'd still say they're of average build quality.

Warranty

Samsung guarantees the DW80R2031US for one year of parts and labor. This is the standard warranty for most appliances. In some cases, manufacturers will offer extended warranties on certain parts.

Should you buy the Samsung DW80R2031US?

Yes, if you’re looking for a good value. If you’re looking for the best dishwasher on the market, however, this isn’t it.

The DW80R2031US is a great option at its price point. Covered with stainless steel, it offers a high-end aesthetic and great cleaning with just a few blemishes here and there. This is a case where the appliance itself isn’t doing anything remarkable, but it provides a lot of performance per dollar.

If you’re looking for a decent-looking dishwasher at a reasonable price, the DW80R2031US is a good buy. If you’re looking for other affordable dishwasher options, we’d recommend checking out the LG LDF5545ST, which is a bit more expensive but has better features and overall cleaning performance.
