Cons

  • None that we could find

With a generous drum, 10 cycles and five options for temperature and dry level, this Samsung dryer can tumble a whole family’s laundry and dry it exactly the way you prefer. It also gives a style boost to any laundry room with its champagne color, round door, and clear, easy-to-read control panel. Our only complaint about this machine: The lint filter may be difficult for some people to open.

The Samsung DVE45R6100 dryer has a contemporary look that upscales any laundry room. The champagne color is completely on-trend.

What we like

During our tests, this dryer gave us plenty to admire.

The contemporary style and warm color caught our eye

We know that not everyone cares how a dryer looks, but if your laundry room’s style matters to you, this dryer’s round door and champagne color are truly elegant. This dryer's looks alone might even make laundry day more pleasant.

The highly-effective Bedding cycle helps get sheets and comforters dry quickly

In 49 minutes, this cycle gets laundry pretty dry while operating at a safe temperature of 144°F. Bedding never comes out feeling uncomfortably crispy.

The Samsung DVE45R6100C dryer has a spacious tub with room for towels and lots of other bulky items. The drum light ensures that nothing gets left behind.

The Normal cycle can get you out of the laundry room in under an hour

In about 50 minutes, laundry gets 100% dry. The temperature we measured, 152°F, is two degrees higher than the ideal. That’s probably insignificant, but you can adjust the temperature on the control panel if you’d like.

Steam Sanitize+ eliminates allergens

Samsung claims this cycle can remove 99.9% of germs and bacteria, over 95% of pollen, and 100% of dust mites. Although we haven’t measured allergen levels in the laundry in our labs, we totally understand how useful this cycle could be for families dealing with asthma and allergies.

The Smart Care feature lets you use your phone to scan error codes

An app on your smartphone can help you troubleshoot any issues that might arise while using the dryer. If an error code appears on the dryer's display, you can scan it with your phone and the app will translate it and help you solve the problem.

A drum light illuminates the spacious interior

We were happy to see how bright the light is because a big tub like this one needs light to ensure that nothing gets left behind when unloading. It can help locate those random socks before the next load runs.

A light-up reminder tells you to clean the lint trap

A light flashes at startup as a reminder to clean the lint filter, in case you didn’t do it after the last cycle. It is not safe to let dryer lint accumulate, because dryers are one common cause of house fires. A reminder to clear the filter can't hurt.

The lint trap is double-sided, so it holds a lot of lint. You need to clean it out after every load.

What we don’t like

As much as we like this dryer, we still have a couple of concerns.

The lint trap can be difficult to open for cleaning

Our main concern is with the lint filter. It’s double-sided and can catch a lot of lint, but it's hard to open, so users might not take the trouble to clean it. Don’t ever neglect to do that. Over time, dryer lint build-up can be flammable.

The Quick Dry cycle isn't exactly speedy

While it still saves time over a Normal cycle, Quick Dry takes almost half an hour to complete. We’ve tested dryers that finish a quick cycle in 20 minutes or less. The extra 10 minutes might mean you can't get your clothes dry on a workday.

The controls on the Samsung DVE45R6100C dryer are easy to use. But if you don't want to set any options, you can dial up a Normal cycle, which will complete in under an hour.

Warranty

Samsung provides a one-year limited warranty for parts and labor on the DVE45R6100C dryer.

What owners say

Although this model doesn’t have many reviews yet, the vast majority of online reviews are positive. Owners give it an average score of 4.6 out of 5 stars across major retailers’ sites.

Should you buy it?

Yes, don’t hesitate. This dryer is one of the best we’ve ever tested. It gets everything in its massive tub fully dry in under an hour on the Normal and Bedding cycles, and with five adjustments for heat and dry level, it lets you customize each cycle. And for homes with first-floor laundry rooms, the style is right on-trend with a rounded door and golden champagne color. Our only caveat: If it’s possible for you to visit the DVE45R6100C before you buy, make sure you can open the lint trap. Getting the lint out after each cycle is not optional.
