    Pros

    • Good suction

    • Portable

    • Ideal for small messes

    Cons

    • Loud

    • Long charge time

    • Short run time

My home cleaning company business ventures began when friends repeatedly commented on how clean my home was and jokingly asked me to come clean theirs. A self-proclaimed “neat freak,” I simply cannot stand a mess.

While I'm no longer in the biz, I do have a family of five, including three children, and messes are inevitable. Dragging a full-size vacuum all over the house can be exhausting, so I am always looking for alternatives.

For smaller messes, the Eufy HomeVac H11 (available at Amazon) is a cordless handheld vacuum that promises portability and crumb-sucking features. It seemed like it would be a good fit for my cleaning needs, but I did have to ask, how much suction power can a handheld vacuum actually provide?

I had my doubts—until I got to using it. After several weeks of testing, here’s what I think of the Eufy HomeVac H11 cordless handheld vacuum.

The Eufy handheld vacuum is easy to maintain, including the washable filter.

Sleek, stylish, and compact, the Eufy HomeVac H11 cordless handheld vacuum by Anker weighs a light 1.2 pounds while maintaining 5500Pa in suction power.

Utilizing a USB port for charging, one of the most convenient features that the Eufy offers is its ability to be charged not only at home, but also in the car, making it a great option for keeping the car clean.

The handheld vacuum has a non-slip handle, and comes with washable filters and a crevice and brush attachment.

How I tested the Eufy H11 vacuum

Charged and ready to go right out of the box, the Eufy H11 vacuum was pretty self-explanatory in terms of how to use it, with the only button on it being used to turn the vacuum on and off.

I didn’t need the directions to figure out how to attach and detach the attachments, or understand how to twist the top off to empty the canister, but I did take a quick minute to read the directions regarding how to clean it.

For the next few weeks, I put the Eufy H11 to the test in cleaning my car, kitchen, the kid’s messes, and I even took it with me on vacation to keep my hotel room tidy.

What we like

The Eufy handheld vacuum has surprisingly strong suction

The Eufy handheld vacuum is small but mighty.

For being so little, the Eufy H11 vacuum packs a surprising punch in the suction department.

Able to pick up small dense objects such as cereal, pretzels, and beads, I was really impressed with how strong this handheld cordless vacuum is compared to the iconic Black & Decker Dust Buster my mother had when I was growing up.

Plus, because this vacuum relies strictly on suction without utilizing a turbine brush, it did a phenomenal job sucking up hair as there was no way for it to get tangled and jam up the vacuum.

It is easy to empty and clean (and surprisingly durable)

With a simple twist design, the canister can be emptied in just a few seconds.

The same twist design exposes the vacuum’s filters, which are easily cleaned just by rinsing them under water and allowing them to air dry.

As I mentioned before, this vacuum does not have a brush turbine so there are no extra parts to take apart, detail clean, and then reassemble.

Also, for what it’s worth the Eufy H11 seems incredibly durable as I learned when it rolled off of the counter and onto my hardwood floor; to my horror and surprise, it still worked fine!

It’s a cost-effective alternative to paper towels

I never realized how much money I was spending on cleaning up dry messes, until the Eufy H11 vacuum took residence on my kitchen counter.

From crumbs on the counters and kitchen table, to snack foods on my son’s kitchen booster seat, I was always grabbing a paper towel, getting it wet, and then using it to collect all the crumbs so I could throw them away.

But the Eufy H11 replaces all that paper waste because you can literally vacuum your counters and tables with it; total game changer!

The design is compact for use in tight spaces and suitcases

There are a lot of places that a regular sized vacuum simply cannot access, such as the back row of an SUV, underneath a couch, or into the back of a closet, which is where the Eufy H11 vacuum really excels.

Setting the neat freak in me free, I found myself vacuuming places that I never would have thought to vacuum before, such as my kitchen drawers.

I also loved how easily the Eufy H11 navigated the car and when I took it with us on a road trip it was not only super convenient to tidy up after snacks and lunch were passed around the backseat, but also small enough that I tossed it into my suitcase and used it to keep my hotel room clean (I did warn you that I am a neat freak).

What we don’t like

The run time is short and it takes a long time to charge

Its cylindrical design makes it hard for it to stand still without the cap on.

With a run time totaling just thirteen minutes, I found myself scrambling to vacuum the nooks and crannies of my car and get all the crumbs out of the car seat before the battery on the Eufy H11 fizzled out.

When combined with the fact that the average charge time is 2.5-3.5 hours long, it sometimes felt like the convenience of the Eufy’s size was washed out by creating a task that takes longer if you need to stop and charge in the middle of your cleaning.

The Eufy handheld vacuum is loud

Although I appreciate the Eufy’s robust suction power, that robust work definitely creates a lot of noise, which surprised me since the vacuum is so small.

With a noise volume comparable to a hair dryer, it feels much too loud for some of the spaces or situations it would have been perfect for, such as an office cubicle or when the kid falls asleep in the car.

The vacuum stand is a must to keep it stored properly

Although the Eufy H11 does come with a cap that is to be used as the vacuum stand, the actual vacuum itself cannot stand without the cap.

The vacuum rolled off my counter not one, not two, but three times just in the course of testing.

As a busy mom I don’t want to keep track of extra pieces, and when my kids used the vacuum, they never remembered to put the cap back on even if it were right there.

However, it didn’t break, so at least I can speak to the durability of this handheld vacuum.

Although sleek in design, I wish it had been made with a flat section, some balance prongs, or anything to stop it from rolling away every time I set it down.

Should you buy the Eufy handheld vacuum?

Yes, it’s convenient for quickly cleaning up small messes

As mentioned before, it comes with a brush attachment to clean up any remaining dust.

The Eufy handheld vacuum is small yet so powerful, making it a great option for quick clean-ups, tight spaces, travel, and car messes. While the run time is shorter than I prefer, it is easy to keep charged in the car or on a kitchen countertop. However, a longer run time and shorter charging time are improvements I wouldn’t mind seeing in the future.

The Eufy H11 vacuum fits well into my daily routine. It’s also something I’ll be adding to my travel packing list, and as long as you’re OK with a little bit of noise, I would recommend that you do the same.
