    Branch Verve Office Chair

    Pros

    • Great lower back support

    • Comfortable for a full work day

    • Sleek design

    Cons

    • Armrests fall out of place easily

    • Awkward to assemble

Last year I upgraded my office chair for the first time since I started working from home full-time. I chose the Branch Daily Chair for its stylish looks, supportive build, and relatively low price tag. Sadly, the light blue color I ordered started to show signs of wear after about six months, and I decided it was time to level-up my desk chair.

I was ready for the best Branch Furniture had to offer, so I ordered the Branch Verve Chair (available at Branch) in a gorgeous shade of coral (because I can’t resist a pop of color).

Having worked many months in the entry-level model, I’m happy to report that the bigger and better Verve office chair is a fantastic investment for my home office. More importantly, this Branch chair helps improve my posture and comfort while working from home.

About the Branch Verve Chair

The Verve Chair is a stylish office chair that's both functional and comfortable.

The Branch Verve Chair is a high-performance work chair with ergonomic design.

The office chair retails between $549 or $599, depending on the color. The Branch Verve Chair is available in Galaxy ($549), Coral ($599), and Mist ($599), all of which have frames that match the cushions to give a monochromatic effect.

While this is about twice as much as the Branch Daily Chair, the cost is still over $1,000 cheaper than the best office chair we’ve tested.

The brand claims that this chair is comfortable to sit in for a typical eight hour work day becuase of the supportive V-shaped, 3-D knit chair backing, which offers ample lumbar and upper back support.

Branch is a direct-to-consumer company, which means it ships its furniture directly to you in a large cardboard box with simple instructions and tools. The assembly required is minimal, though it is a two-person job.

The Branch Verve Chair is extremely comfortable and well-designed.

What We Like

The Branch Verve office chair offers great lower back support

Sitting for extended periods of time won't cause back pain, thanks to the V-shaped design that offers additional lumbar support.

Despite having a standing desk, I typically sit for at least six hours during my workday, so it's imperative that I sit in an office chair with proper lumbar support. The Branch Verve Chair gets the job done great because of the soft and supprotive 3-D knit fabric. The fabric is also highly breathable, so I never get hot while sitting.

On top of that, the chair back boasts a unique V-shaped design that has an additional rectangular support at the top. This rectangle tilts inward towards the person sitting in the chair and hits somewhere in the low- to mid-back of most users.

This Branch chair is also adjustable, making it easy to find the right height for yourself. The Verve chair hits my 6-foot-tall frame perfectly in my lower back.

These two features make for an office chair with incredible lower back support, which is crucial if you work from home all day long like I do.

The seat is comfortable to sit in for a full day of work

In addition to sufficient back support, the Verve Chair has an extra comfy seat. The seat on this chair is rated by the company as "firm” on a scale of medium firm to extra firm.

After using this chair for a couple months, I can confirm it maintains its firmness throughout the work day and is comfortable to sit in for hours on end. The chair offers cushioned support without being too soft, giving me plenty of stability to sit comfortably for hours.

This design of the chair is sleek and ergonomic

This isn't your average desk chair—buyers can choose from five eye-catching colors to incorporate into your office space.

Like the Daily Chair, the Verve Chair is available in several eye-catching colors, including a vibrant shade of coral that I had to have. Most office chairs come in black or gray, so I love the fun and bright color options that Branch offers.

Underneath the seat is a mechanism that allows you to adjust the height. Overall, the lever keeps a low profile, but it is a bit heavy (more on this later).

Overall, this isn't your average office chair. It touts a sleek and modern design in several fantastic color options that can brighten up your office.

What we don’t like

The armrests fall out of place easily

If you like to sit back and lounge while you work, you may the arm rests to be a bit uncomfy.

The sleek, minimalist curved design of the arm rests are aesthetically appealing and should be easy to use. But in my daily use, I've found the adjustable armrests are tricky to get the hang of.

The arm rests can be adjusted by pulling up lightly on each (you'll hear a click sound when you do) until you reach your desired height. However, if you pull the armrest all the way to its highest point, it resets the armrest, and when you try to place your arm on it, it falls to the very bottom position.

The trick here is not pulling the armrest to the highest setting. Instead, you want to settle on somewhere in the middle, which is pretty easy once you get the hang of it.

That said, if you accidentally pull up on the armrests when readjusting yourself in the seat or grab the armrest to move the chair, doing so will likely knock the armrest out of place.

This isn’t a deal breaker for me, but it is an issue to be aware of, as other users have had similar complaints in the reviews on the Branch website. Clearly, I’m not alone in my experience.

It’s relatively heavy and awkward to assemble

This chair weighs 40 pounds—about 10 pounds heavier than the Daily Chair. While I don’t mind the heft of the chair when it comes to daily use and moving around in it, the weight makes it very difficult to assemble the chair by yourself.

Like many office chairs, the heaviest part is the adjustment mechanism that gets screwed onto the bottom of the seat. The seat is cumbersome and awkward to rest on your legs during assembly. The whole thing requires more abdominal work than other home furniture I've assembled.

However, if you can rope someone into helping you assemble this chair, the heaviness of the adjustment mechanism shouldn't be an issue.

Warranty

Branch offers a seven year warranty for parts and components on the Verve Chair. The warranty covers malfunctions and defects, but does not cover general wear and tear, discoloration, and more.

If your chair arrives damaged, you can contact customer service within three days of delivery for a refund or replacement. You can read the full Branch warranty policy for more information.

This chair is comfortable for sitting in all day, and I never get tired of looking at it in my home office (which also happens to be my living room).
