    • Attractive

    • Promotes good posture

    Cons

    • Height of back of chair can’t be adjusted

    • Armrests scratch easily

Many office chairs come in the same few colorways, offering little to no variation for a piece of office furniture that's more aesthetically pleasing. I've spent years choosing style over optimum comfort when working from home, but after recently entering a new decade of life, it wasn't long before my body started sending signals: It was time to upgrade my good-looking but unsupportive office chair for something sturdier.

Enter the Branch Daily Chair which checks all the boxes on my home office wish list: it's stylish and comes in several colors, the assembly is quick and simple, and it offers good support for my 6-foot-tall frame. While I have a couple adjustability and durability hang ups, as a whole, this office chair offers a lot of value for the money.

The Branch Daily Chair is affordable, stylish, and great for small spaces.

About the Branch Daily Chair

The Branch Daily Chair is designed to make your office feel like your home (or in my case, my home to feel like my office) without breaking the bank, and at under $300 it’s more than $1,000 cheaper than the best office chair we’ve tested and half the price of our best value pick. It’s available in Slate, Linden Green, and Sky Blue, all with a white frame.

The brand claims that this chair is comfortable to sit in for 6+ hours of work thanks to the supportive lumbar rest and adjustable armrests, plus a breathable nylon cushion and woven chair back. As a direct-to-consumer company, Branch ships its furniture directly in a large cardboard box that comes with simple instructions and minimal assembly required.

What we like

The Branch office chair is easy to assemble

I love a home improvement project, especially when it comes to putting new furniture together, and even more so when it’s so easy I can do it by myself. The Daily Chair ticks all my DIY boxes—the directions are easy to follow, it can be assembled solo or with the help of one other person (if you insist on having a helper), and it doesn’t require any additional tools. Bonus: the packaging is 100% recyclable.

This particular Branch office chair is sturdy and supportive.

I typically sit at my desk for eight or nine hours on any given work day, standing up for a snack break or apartment walkabout every couple of hours. This chair is just as comfortable at 6 p.m. when I’m done working as it is at 9 a.m. when I start my day. The seat cushion is firm but not too hard, and the lumbar rest hits my back in just the right place, which I found really surprising given that I’m 6 feet tall and the back of the chair isn’t adjustable (but more on that later).

The armrests are also firm but not so hard that they hurt my forearms after hours of typing. The height of each armrest can be easily adjusted, which makes it super simple to find the ideal height for your body.

The design of the chair is sleek and minimalist

Unlike most office chairs on the market that are either offered in black (boring) or a special shade of neon green that should be reserved for highlighter markers and bowling alleys, this chair is offered in a delightfully minimalist palette of nature-inspired tones. I ordered the Daily Chair in Sky Blue with a white frame and it’s the same Robin’s-egg-blue perfection in real life as it is in the photos online. It isn’t large and clunky like other office chairs I’ve owned—it’s just the right size.

What we don't like

You can’t adjust the height of the chair back

The armrests are comfortable but scratch easy, so handle with care.

This chair is ideal for my height, but if you were any taller than 6-feet, the lumbar rest would likely be too low for you. Without the ability to adjust the height of the back of the chair, the Daily Chair is limited in its abilities to accommodate different heights and body proportions.

For comparison’s sake, the Branch Ergonomic Chair, which has a longer and taller back than the Daily Chair, can be paired with the optional Branch Headrest for additional support.

The finish on the armrests scratches easily

I’ve been pretty careful to avoid damaging my Daily Chair because, well, it really is so lovely to look at. However, I have a standing desk (that I don’t use nearly enough) and when I lower it back to its bottom position sometimes the chair is positioned too close, causing the arms to get stuck and then scratched. I’ve noticed other small scratches from rings brushing against the arms, too. The scratches aren’t deep, but they’re still noticeable if you look closely.

Should you buy the Branch Daily Chair?

Yes, this office chair is equal parts cute and comfortable for the money

The Branch Daily Chair is a comfortable and stylish office chair for working from home.

This chair is comfy to sit in, easy to assemble, and its minimalist design means it’ll look great in most rooms. While it may not be the best we’ve tested, the Branch Daily Chair is a reliable direct-to-consumer office chair that won’t break the bank. If you need a chair with decent lumbar support and a comfortable seat, this chair does the trick and then some. It’s ideal for folks between 5- and 5-foot-11-inches tall, which is fairly standard for office chairs. I'm slightly taller and find the Branch office chair comfortable to sit in.

The warranty policy also makes me feel comforted in case anything should break. I haven’t had to use it in my three months of owning the chair, but I’m confident that it would be easy to take advantage of if I had to, given that Branch’s website is easy to navigate.

I’m incredibly satisfied with my Daily Chair purchase and my back is certainly grateful for this upgrade, though at this point my chiropractor is probably starting to miss me.
