The month of March is packed with sales on luggage.

According to Reader’s Digest, March is the best time to purchase new luggage. Even if you don’t have a trip planned, don’t put off buying luggage until you need it, especially if you won’t have much time to research durable options by then. And what better way to get through a global pandemic than a little retail therapy for future, safe getaways?

In an effort to avoid airline baggage fees, many people opt to travel with only carry-on luggage nowadays. Sound familiar? We've got some ideas for you. Overpackers, meanwhile, can confidently upgrade to the expandable Travelpro Platinum Magna 2, which reigns as our top pick for checked luggage.

For those who prefer a hard-sided option, we're also fans of Away's large suitcase. In addition to its sleek appearance, the flexible polycarbonate shell can stand up to being jostled around in an airplane's hold, and the clever pockets inside will keep everything organized.
