In the quest for a good night's sleep, finding the perfect duvet is essential to protect your comforter and stay, well, comfortable. However, most duvet covers are a puzzle to put over a duvet insert, making them more of a hassle than it’s worth at times.

Enter Beddley (available at Beddley) , a brand that has garnered attention for its innovative duvet design after appearing on Shark Tank. From its patented design to the choice of premium cotton, I tested how this duvet fares in terms of application, durability, and overall sleep experience.

The Beddley duvet cover isn't for hot sleepers, and it has a bit of an odor upon unboxing. But overall, this duvet cover is a game changer for making the bed, and is much easier to put on than my previous one.

What is Beddley?

The Easy-Change Duvet Cover comes in a variety of sizes and colors.

Beddley is a bedding brand focused on convenient, innovative, and high-quality bedding essentials.

The patented duvet cover design features zippers that encircle three sides of the cover, ensuring easy insertion and removal. This style makes swapping out bedding for laundry days or seasonal preferences easier.

Beddley claims to use 100% premium long-staple cotton for their bedding, promising softness, comfort, and a high thread count.

Each product is Oeko-Tex certified, which ensures that its products are free from harmful substances.

This is especially worth noting since you’ll spend hours every night in close contact with the duvet cover, and it may help ease allergies or itchiness for those with sensitive skin.

The Easy-Change Duvet Cover is available for beds sized twin to California king. It comes in white, gray, champagne, navy, purple, maroon, mustard, cashmere, aqua, clay, and olive shades.

Beddley also has shams to match each colorway if you’re looking for a complete bedding refresh.

What we like

It’s as easy to put on as it claims

Beddley’s zipper spans three of the four sides of the duvet cover, which makes the cover easy to put on.

Beddley isn’t fibbing about how easy it is to put the duvet on your comforter. I tested the duvet cover in my giant California king bed and found it to be one of the easiest experiences I’ve ever had for putting a cover on my duvet insert.

The product page on Beddley’s website made it easy with a handy diagram that details the easiest approach to laying out the duvet cover—simply unzip and open the duvet (like a suitcase), lay the comforter flat, and tie it to each corner of the duvet cover, zip all three sides of your Beddley, adjust on your bed as needed.

The corners have inside pockets to keep the duvet cover in place

Beyond easy “installation,” I was excited to see the interior pockets of the duvet cover. Like most duvet covers, there are ties at each corner to keep your comforter or duvet from coming loose and bunching up within the duvet cover.

In addition to the ties are pockets you can tuck the corners of your duvet into. I noticed that these pockets helped keep the comforter from wiggling out of place, which kept my bedding laying flat and covering the whole bed.

The Beddley duvet cover is easy to wash

The Beddley duvet cover was a breeze to wash because it isn’t bulky, and the fabric doesn’t shed. With its high thread count, the duvet remains soft to the touch even after multiple washes.

Plus, the fabric didn’t wrinkle, which made laundry days easier and kept my bed looking well-kept.

What we don’t like

It has an odor upon arrival

The Beddley brand uses 100% premium long-staple cotton for their bedding, promising softness, comfort, and a high thread count.

When the Beddley duvet cover arrived, it had an awful smell. The scent could be a remnant from the manufacturing process or the packaging, but either way, it wasn’t something I wanted to have in my bedroom.

Though the fabric smelled bad, I wasn’t too worried about chemicals because of Beddley’s Oeko-Tex certification.

Thankfully, the smell went and stayed away with a regular wash cycle.

The zipper is surprisingly heavy

Beddley’s zipper spans three of the four sides of the duvet cover, which makes the cover easy to put on, but it leaves you with a zipper showing on one side of the duvet cover. The zipper pull is heavier than the zipper on other duvet covers I’ve tried, and it felt like it weighed down the sides of the duvet.

Of course, you could put the zipper portion at the foot of the bed, but then a side with the zipper track is by your face. Essentially, having the zipper appear on three of the four sides of the duvet cover felt uncomfortable against my skin regardless of how I turned the duvet.

The fabric is hot to sleep under

Though the duvet cover was smooth and luxurious, the cotton felt hot throughout the night. I’m not a hot sleeper, but it felt like the duvet was holding heat as I slept, making it harder for temperature regulation.

The fabric was less breathable than others like percale or linen. While this is a personal preference, if you find that Beddley’s duvet also retains heat, use it during cooler months to stay warm.

If you’re a sweaty sleeper, it might not be the best one for you.

Should you buy the Beddley Easy-Change Duvet Cover?

Yes. Beddley is great if you’re looking for a fuss-free duvet cover

The Beddley duvet cover is a breeze to wash because it isn’t bulky.

The Beddley duvet cover is easy to tie and slip my comforter into. It's soft, made from quality fabric, and I love how it stays in place on my bed.

I don't love the odor that it puts off after the initial unboxing, but washing got rid of the smell. I also found the zipper to be heavy and the fabric to be warm to sleep under. But overall, this is one of the easiest duvet covers I've ever used. The Beddley Easy-Change Duvet Cover takes a notoriously difficult chore and turns it into a simple one.
