Caliber may be best known as a flagship brand for outdoor cooking, but the company's new 48-inch ranges are headed indoors.

Of course, those doors won't lead to just any homes. These ranges are only meant for the most exclusive kitchens—not just because they’re priced between $9,500 and $15,000, but because every Caliber range is custom built to each customer’s specifications.

Like a bespoke suit or couture gown, Caliber ranges are whatever you want them to be. Want four burners and a griddle? No problem. A French top that converts into a wok burner, with a wooden handle and an orange exterior? Caliber has you covered.

No matter which exterior color you choose, or which variety of wood or metal handle you pick, the quality remains the same. Multi-port brass burners direct gas flames to the bottom of your cookware, and cast-iron grates fit snugly into brass fittings.

The Caliber brand is the brainchild of two appliance industry veterans, Randy Rummel and Dan Nichols, who also co-founded the upscale DCS brand decades ago. Caliber started with high-end outdoor grills, and only recently moved into building ranges for indoor kitchens.

According Rummel, Caliber is focused on catering exclusively to the highest end of the luxury market instead of expanding its reach as DCS did.

The wood handle, accent lighting, and French top give this 48-inch Caliber an exclusive look and feel.

Every range is hand-built in Huntington Beach, CA, and Rommel said that overall sales are expected to be in the hundreds, rather than the hundreds of thousands.

Still, at VIP Day on the floor of the Architectural Digest Design Show in Manhattan, a good percentage of potential buyers were in attendance. Some asked about color options (virtually infinite) and a few asked about the range’s increased depth (most customers place the range as a standalone unit, or bump out their cabinetry)—but not a single one asked about cost.

If you’re tired of hearing designers cry Wolf, or think La Cornue is passé, give Caliber a call. Chances are, even if you live in the most exclusive neighborhood, the folks next door won’t have the same model you do.
